Ableton announced the release of Live 9.1, which includes dual-monitor support.
This update is free to all users of Live 9 and provides several significant new features and improvements.
The 9.1 update delivers the ability to open two windows simultaneously on either one or two monitors. Open Arrangement and Session Views side by side, or view Live’s sample display or MIDI note editor in a separate window. This commonly requested feature makes Live’s interface even easier to use and promises to boost workflow in many music-making scenarios.
For Push users, the update to Live 9.1 introduces new melodic step sequencing capabilities. Notes may now be entered manually or played by hand in real time via Push’s pads. Additionally, all of Live’s automatable parameters can now be step-sequenced and edited directly from Push’s encoders.
Live 9.1 also introduces a new rendering algorithm for better quality audio when exporting from higher to lower sample rates – for instance, when going from 96kHz to 44.1kHz. The update also brings a host of minor tweaks, bug fixes and improvements.

Having some serious GUI Freezes and beachballing w Live 9.1. Curious if anyone else is experiencing them. What happens:
- ~ 30 or so tracks
- ~2.5-3 Gigs of RAM shown in activity monitor
- No MFL stuff in set
With playback running, Every time i try to click on something in Live ( clip, scene, device ) the GUI locks up and the beachball makes an appearance and starts spinning for a few seconds in which I am not able to do aything in Live..quite a workflow killer.
I open the set in 9.05 and this doesn't happen. Its happened on the only 2 tracks I have made using Live 9.1 and with both .als files doesn't happen in 9.05 at all.
also, audio playback is fine during these GUI freezes.
